Terms & Conditions of Hire

These terms apply to the hire of labour TENS equipment from Coastal Birth Co., operated by Kayley in Southport, Gold Coast. By placing a booking and/or hiring the equipment, you agree to these terms and conditions. Please read them before you book.

1. The equipment and ownership

Your hire kit includes an Elle TENS machine, lead wires, a lanyard, an instruction manual, maternity electrode pads and batteries.

All hire equipment remains the property of Coastal Birth Co. (Kayley) at all times. You are hiring the equipment, not purchasing it, and no ownership passes to you at any point.

2. What’s yours to keep, and what must be returned

For hygiene reasons, the electrode pads and batteries are supplied for your personal use and are yours to keep.

The TENS machine, lead wires, lanyard and instruction materials (and any reusable packaging provided) remain our property and must be returned in full, in the same working condition, by the end of your hire period.

3. Hire period

Hire periods are currently offered as 2-week ($50), 4-week ($65), 6-week ($75). Your hire period runs from the agreed start date for the agreed length. Extensions may be available by arrangement, subject to availability.

4. Deposit

A $90 refundable deposit is required. It is returned to you once the hire kit is brought back in the same condition. The cost of any missing, damaged or unreturned reusable items may be deducted from your deposit.

5. Returns, late returns and non-return

You are responsible for returning all reusable items in full and in good, clean condition by the end of your hire period. If items are not returned, are returned late, or are returned damaged beyond reasonable wear, we may retain some or all of your deposit and/or charge a reasonable replacement cost equal to the value of the item(s).

6. Pricing and payment

Hire fees are as listed on our website at the time of booking. The hire fee and the $90 deposit are settled once your booking is confirmed. Bookings are currently arranged personally by phone, SMS or through our website enquiry form.

7. Pickup and delivery

Pickup is available locally from Southport, Gold Coast. Delivery across South-East Queensland, Tweed to Brisbane may be available by arrangement, depending on location and timing. Once the equipment is in your care, you are responsible for it until it is returned to us.

8. Care and use of the equipment

Please use the equipment in line with the supplied instructions, keep it dry, and do not immerse it in water. If the equipment develops a fault, please stop using it and let us know as soon as possible.

9. Health, safety and suitability

Coastal Birth Co. provides equipment hire only and does not provide medical advice. A labour TENS machine is a comfort option, not a medical treatment, and does not replace medical care or pain relief. Please read the instructions before use and speak with your midwife, doctor or care provider if you are unsure whether TENS is suitable for you. You use the equipment at your own discretion.

10. Cleaning and hygiene

The reusable items are cleaned and sanitised between hires. Electrode pads are single-user and are supplied for your own use.

11. Cancellations and changes

If you need to cancel or reschedule your booking, please contact us as early as possible by phone, SMS or email so we can help and discuss any deposit or fee arrangements.

12. Liability

To the extent permitted by law, Coastal Birth Co. is not liable for any loss or injury arising from the use or misuse of the hire equipment. Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantees or rights you may have under the Australian Consumer Law.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The version in place at the time of your booking applies to your hire. Any changes will be posted on this page with a new “last updated” date.

14. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia.
